Gagan Chandhoke
Principal Architect/ Director

A Post-graduate from Arizona State University, USA, Gagan Chandhoke is a licensed architect and has been practicing since past 12 years. With a passion for solving design problems and approaching architecture and planning with innovative ideas,she joined ‘Chandhoke & Associates’ in 2009 as the principal architect. Holding a strong edge in aesthetics and logical planning, Gagan has produced a variety of projects ranging from residential developments, commercial spaces, educational buildings and interiors. With an academic background in design-psychology research, she is able to integrate research findings about impact of colours and materials in both her architectural and interior works. ‘Sustainable design’ isn’t just a trendy term she uses, but a coherent integrated philosophy that goes in to every aspect of her designs.

Design philosophy

-Just like the brick is the building block of construction, small functional spaces are the bricks for making the overall large project work. It is this reason that we design architectural and interior spaces with equal ease.
– We begin our design process by first analyzing the not-so-obvious underlying needs and unique problems of the project. While solving space issues and treating layouts we side-by-side integrate aesthetic elements.
– Our design philosophy revolves around creating true amalgamations of our best design solutions and aesthetic sensibilities with the clients personality and needs. This helps us in not only making every project unique but also in constantly evolving in terms of design styles and technologies. This also curtails us from rigid ideologies and allows us to flow into flexible design approaches.
We enjoy working on large scale projects while magnifying and detailing tiny spaces. Architectural work:

• Space planning and complete designing process according to client requirements, government bye-laws and functionality of a building.
  Detailed and complete architectural working drawings required for execution: Plans,
  elevations, sections, joinery details, electrical details, plumbing details etc.
• Structural drawings by a certified structural engineer.
• 3D views, perspectives and walk-throughs if/when required by client.
• Incorporation and designing of sustainable features.
• Landscape designing.
• Preparation of sanctioning drawing as per Chandigarh estate office, PUDA or HUDA.
• Site supervision.

Interior designing and related works:

• Space planning and design concepts of interior spaces – for commercial, residential, institutional and medical spaces.
• Selection of colours, materials, treatment of walls, flooring etc. according to design concept and specifications of materials.
• Lighting and electrical details.
• Plumbing details.
• Detailed drawings for execution of work on site: Furniture workshop drawings, flooring designs and drawings, false ceiling details, wall treatment details, etc.
• 3D views, perspectives and walk-throughs if/when required by client.
• Preparation of Bill of Quantitates (BOQ) for calling quotations form contractors/estimation.
• Site supervision.

Furniture:

• Selection of furniture – design, style etc.
• Space planning as per the space – residential or commercial.
• Designing, selection and placing of accessories – rugs, lamps, curios etc.
• Manufacturing of furniture – Our strength lies in MP teak furniture. We are able to make high quality and furniture that exuberates great furniture artisans’ Skillman ship. From modern straight-line contemporary furniture to heavy carved Victorian style furniture, we
  are able to manufacture at put very own workshop.
